I am studying and quantifying how clots induced in micro vessels in a rat’s brain affects surrounding neurons. The Calcium concentration is a good indicator of neuron functionality. I plan to track the Calcium using two approaches; one through labeling with fluorescent dye together with two-photon calcium imaging, and the second approach using transgenic mice with genetically-encoded calcium indicators expressed in cortical neurons. Furthermore, I would like to compare the results between healthy rodents and rodents with Alzheimer disease. I studied Bionics Engineering at I.P.N and Chemical Engineering at U.A.M. in Mexico City. Currently I am pursuing a Ph.D in Biomedical Engineering at Cornell.
