Marvara was born and raised in Gujarat, India, and moved to Nashville, Tennessee to finish high school. She is a senior majoring in Human Biology, Health, and Society with a minor in Health Policy. With an interest in serving her surrounding community, she hopes to pursue a career in medicine and research.
As part of the cardiac group, Marvara's research focuses on understanding the role of macrophage Connexin-43 gap junction interaction in electrical conduction of heart. She uses multiphonon microscopy and tissue clearing techniques to look at the cause of arrhythmias post myocardial infarction.
Outside of lab, Marvara enjoys getting involved with the community outside of the Cornell bubble. She is a volunteer at the bridges elderly center and a tutor for Cornell Prison Education Program. She also enjoys playing ultimate frisbee, hiking, and climbing. She loves meeting people from different cultures and spending time with friends and family.
