Multiphoton microscopy is a useful tool for high resolution, fluorescence biological imaging in living animals. However, conventional methods require relatively long image acquisition times, which prevent the observation of biological dynamics much faster than one second. I am developing and optimizing a temporally focused, two-photon excited fluorescence microscope capable of producing optically sectioned images on the order of 1 ms per frame capable of fast, dynamic cellular observation, in vivo. In addition, I hope to be able to acquire three dimensional resolved volumetric images of cells at the rate of tens of volumes per second enabling real time multiple particle tracking in biological systems. I received my Bachelors degree in Biological Engineering from the University of California, Davis. I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering.
