The most recent studies have shown that a large cause of Alzheimer’s disease may be attributed to the death of neurons caused by the toxic effects of amyloid-beta peptide plaques. It is also correlated to blood flow reduction of the vessels in the brain. My research involves studying the effects of localized blood flow reductions caused by a-ß plaques on the progression of Alzheimer’s disease. I am currently involved in the analysis of the data by developing advanced 3D image tracing and stitching algorithms. I am an undergraduate in Chemistry and Computational Biology with an expected graduation date of May 2011.
